WHO’s name, logo being used to promote vaping products

A pro-vaping organization named “Voice of Vapers Bangladesh” is using the name and logo of the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote their vaping products with a view to divert the public eyes in another direction.

Citing the WHO, the organization said that, vaping is free from the harmful effects of tobacco and it is much safer for the lungs. This false and controversial remark was posted on the organization’s Facebook page on 5 October 2020, which is totally swindling with the people, said experts.

However, in the ‘WHO Report on Global Tobacco Epidemic 2019’, e-cigarettes were identified as a harmful product for human health. Moreover, vaping causes infections and illnesses of the lungs and weakens of the body’s immunity system, which is extremely susceptible to COVID-19 infections. Such misleading promotional activities need to be stopped immediately. Tobacco Industry Watch BD Team of PROGGA condemned the incident and asked the authorities concerned to take immediate steps in this regard to stop such false and baseless propaganda, said a press release.
