BATB Donating in Govt. Funds

In continuation of previous years, Bangladesh Labor Welfare Foundation (BLWF), a body under the Ministry of Labor and Employment, has once again received donations from the multinational tobacco company British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) which the company later massively publicized in different media. Even the Facebook page of the Labor and Employment has also published a photo with BATB's logo on it. This is a clear breach of Guideline 4.10, under Article 5.3, of the WHO treaty Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). It clearly says that the parties should not allow any official or employee of government or of any semi-quasi-governmental body to accept payments, gifts or services, monetary or in-kind, from the tobacco industry. Such activities of tobacco companies must be stopped through an amendment of the law.
