Death Marketing -2JTI’s aggressive marketing strategies
The roads and streets of Dhaka have become the stage of mobile promotional campaign and publicity of Japan Tobacco International. Sales agents of JTI are moving around the capital wearing t-shirts with JTI brand color, slogan and logo, carrying attractive cigarette boxes in their bi-cycles. The youth are being allured into lighting up with such a glossy campaign. Notably, the punishment for advertising tobacco and tobacco products, under the existing law, is a simple imprisonment or a monetary fine not exceeding Tk. 100,000 or both the penalties and if the offence is found again, the punishment will be doubled. JTI's aggressive marketing must be stopped. |
