Tobacco companies are inventing newer and alternative ways to advertise and promote their products since tobacco advertisement on the existing media is banned. To attract the youths and kids, they are distributing gifts and presents like umbrellas, T- shirts and caps resembling the tobacco brand and employing teams of agents to distribute the items among the targeted youths. Following the tobacco control law, all forms of advertisements of tobacco products is banned but due to the indifference of the law enforcing agencies, the people are not reaping the benefits. By the same the authority has not taken any measures yet to stop the illegal competition of Battle of Mind 2015 organised by BATB. Although BATB has removed a video from youtube after the negative criticisms on social networking websites, there are still no signs to stop the illegal event rather they have extended the registration deadline and recently it has held the official launch of the event at the IBA auditorium in Dhaka University. |
