Death Marketing-1Abul Khair promotes tobacco ignoring TC Law
Abul Khair Tobacco has adopted a different technique to market its Marise cigarette. Recently it has organized a procession where a group of people crossed different streets of Rangpur after wearing logoed T-Shirt and Caps similar to the Marise cigarette brand. After the procession, it has awarded different gift items to the retail shopkeepers. Notably, for such promotional activities, the tobacco control law orders to penalize the promoter with a three-month rigorous imprisonment or a monetary fine of Tk less than TK 100,000 or both, and if the same offense is repeated again, then the fines and penalties will be doubled accordingly. Unless the law enforcing agencies are taking actions against such promotions, tobacco companies will continue their illegal activities as much as they can. |
