Death Marketing-1Tobacco co ads say tobacco price not hiked in budget
The National Budget 2015-16 has been highly influenced by the Tobacco Companies and the issue is testified from different forms of advertisements by the companies to attract their consumers. ‘Your favorite brand Marise is still available by TK 2.00’ – a sticker is visible in almost all the retail tobacco selling points of the capital. The tobacco companies are publicizing that the price of cigarettes has not been increased while the budget makers are on the view that the price will increase!! In our opinion, since the income level of the people has increased comparing the previous year, the tobacco products have turned cheaper to the people in fact. We demand an extensive and effective taxation on all forms of tobacco should be imposed, and by the same time the relevant tobacco company should be brought under penalty after the tobacco control law for advertising and promotion of their brand. |
