AKT promotes Marise cig, breaks TC law

Abul Khair Tobacco (AKT) is continuing death-marketing across the country by violating the tobacco control law. The company has aggressively promoting Marise Cigarette brand by umbrellas made similarly to represent the cigarette packet. The agents are selling cigarettes at different places including public places, markets etc. with different gift items in their hands. To inspire the consumers they are distributing cigarettes for free, offering gifts in exchange of empty cigarette packets and other activities which are banned by the law. Notably, for such violation, the punishment is rigorous imprisonment for less than three months or monetary fine less than BDT 100,000 or both is applicable. If the offense is done twice or repeated, the punishment will be made double gradually. Such aggressive marketing and promotional activities should be stopped immediately by implementing the tobacco control law.
