Death Marketing-1Tobacco company ‘Research’ for GHW on 50pc Lower Spaces
A recent survey outcome has found that 90 percent of the respondents believe that the existing Graphic Health Warning (GHW) is sufficient, covering the lower 50 percent space of tobacco packets, to reduce smoking which is entirely contrary with the demands of anti-tobacco activists. Notably, the anti-tobacco activists are trying hard since last one year to print the GHW on the upper 50 percent space of tobacco packets. On the other side, in the beginning of the year, to continue printing GHW on lower 50 percent space of tobacco packets, the tobacco companies have filed a writ petition with the High Court using a mushrooming organization named ‘ASH Bangladesh’. They are conducting research with their own sponsorship to gather some reasons after their writ petition and misinform the policymakers. Hence, everyone should remain aware of such research and usage of their information. |
