Death Marketing-1BATB's Promotional Campaign Disguised as CSR
On the occasion of World Water Day, British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) has advertised PROBAHO, its so-called corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, in a newspaper covering half area of a total page. In the advertisement, BATB promoted itself as a development partner of Bangladesh government in the mission to achieve SDGs. This is nothing but an image-building stunt of the company and a stunt to draw the attention of policymakers. The current tobacco control law, the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Act, 2005 must be amended to end CSR activities of tobacco companies. |
