Death Marketing-1Planting Saplings While Felling Forests!
British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) is still continuing its massive deforestation campaign to gather firewood for the processing of tobacco leaves. To hide the devastating impact of its business on the environment and create a false impression of positivity around its brands, the company is also continuing its so-called yearly afforestation program. To commemorate the World Environment Day 2024, BATB has launched a saplings distribution program and is advertising the program massively in the media. It should be noted that a total of 74 countries in the world have imposed a total ban on corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of tobacco companies. Bangladesh should follow suit by expediting the amendment of tobacco control law.
