Death Marketing-1Pro-Vape Groups Spreading Misinformation
Bangladesh Electronic Nicotine Delivery System Traders Association (BENDSTA), Voice of Vapers Bangladesh (VoV) and Consumer Rights of Sales Alternatives (CoRSA) have recently organized a human chain in Chattogram demanding reversal of a proposed ban on vaping products in the draft amendment of the tobacco control law. Speakers participating in the human chain claimed that vaping is 95 percent less harmful when compared to traditional smoking and that the US, the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Sweden use vaping as a cessation tool as part of its public health policy. These claims are anything but true. It should be noted that 34 countries have already banned vaping products due to its detrimental effect on human health. Bangladesh must follow suit and finalize the draft amendment of the tobacco control law to ensure speedy ban on e-cigarettes and vaping products. |
