Recently BATB is trying to promote its new brand – WILLS KINGS in an innovative way by violating the tobacco control law. To attract the consumers and promote the brand it is adopting different measures like data collection of the smokers by filling up a kind of data collection form (where the consumers are to provide their cell phone numbers and address to be informed in future). The company allures the consumers to send gift items on the address. Besides, it has also made leaflets with the alluring statements like – WILLS KINGS in a Silky Smooth Taste, Four times refined tobacco that provides a silky and smooth taste, designer foil, modern pre-printed tipping and gorgeous embossed pack etc. only to attract customers’ attention. To attract the sellers, they are supplying a packet of 20 cigarettes sticks by Tk 65 and the sellers are making profit of Tk 105 after selling a single packet of cigarette. Making such a profit is not possible by selling other available brands. The leaflets also read – Sell WILLS KINGS, Make More Profits. Despite the legal ban, BATB is marketing its product. The death marketing attempts of the vicious product, which is highly harmful to public health, should be stopped. |
