PMI violates TC law, promotes fresh brand

The existing Tobacco Control (TC) law lacks implementation. Recently Phillip Morris International (PMI) has violated the amended TC law in promoting–BOND STREET, a new brand. The PMI promoting BOND STREET with decorated leaflets and cigarette cases across the country including Dhaka. Recently a four-day sales training program occurred in a local hotel with an activation agency - SKY TRACKER. The trainees received smart cash, T-shirt with BOND STREET logo and a hand bag. Trained sales agents are inspiring smokers and sellers in teams. One cigarette packet is free against submission of five empty packets while the packets are printed with tag line - Less Smell Technology. Posters are pasted in public places with the caption - BOND STREET is only Tk 8. Government’s initiative to control tobacco use will be a failure if such promotions continue violating the law.
