Death Marketing -2BATB fresh ads aim lower-class people
Recently, the British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) has been conducting its Derby cigarette promotion across the country by violating the law. Basically, the dazzling advertisements aim at alluring the lower income group people. And the advertisements are making life intolerable to those people. Notably, the penalty for advertising tobacco products in the existing law is a simple imprisonment not exceeding three months or a monetary fine not exceeding Tk 100,000 or both. If the law is violated again, the fine doubles gradually. The BATB is running its promotion despite the legal ban. Such death-marketing is harmful for public health and should be stopped. |
