Death Marketing -2BATB promoting cigarettes in the name of price declaration
The multinational tobacco giant British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATB) is conducting the death-marketing by showing the retail prices of its cigarette brands, particularly of its new brand ‘Star Neo’, in almost all retail stores all over the country. This is not a move to make people aware of the price but to promote its brands and make people acquainted with the brands. It should be taken into account that the penalties for violating TAPS ban are imprisonment for not exceeding three months or a monetary fine less than BDT 100,000 or both, and if the law is violated for the second time, the fine will be doubled accordingly. Such ill attempts should be stopped to protect public health. |
