Death Marketing -2JTI exploiting pandemic to the fullest!
Multinational tobacco company Japan Tobacco (JTI) is promoting its brand during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic through distributing relief items. The company is involving a number of govt. and non-govt. institutions in this relief program to create a fair image to the public. At the same time, the company is continuing its aggressive marketing campaign to expand its share of the cigarette market of Bangladesh. According to World Health Organization (WHO), smokers are more likely to get infected from coronavirus and get seriously ill once infected. So, to protect public health from the ill-moves of tobacco companies, it is mandatory to stop such donations from tobacco companies by implementing WHO FCTC Article 5.3 without any delay. |
