JTI Placing New Traps in Death Marketing

Japan Tobacco Inc. (JTI) has introduced cigarette sticks that are larger than traditional brand sizes. Larger cigarette sticks can only mean inhaling more nicotine and poisonous gases, more secondhand smoke and increased risk of deaths and illness. The company is also violating the tobacco control law by aggressively promoting its new product. JTI’s cunning marketing strategy can draw the attention of children and adolescents and low-income demographic. The company needs to be brought to book for violation of tobacco control law. Measures must be taken to prevent tobacco companies from introducing such products in future.
