BAT high officials –Health Minister meeting held violating FCTC article 5.3

A high-level delegation of BAT, Bangladesh has held meeting with the Honorable Health Minister on 23 July at 1pm at the Secretariat which is a clear violation of the international treaty Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) article 5.3. The meeting lasted over an hour while the Tobacco Control Rules are at the finalization stage (i.e. waiting for vetting). The BAT delegation was comprised of its Chairman, Managing Director, Head of CSR and other higher officials.

Some of ATMA journalists were present before the Minister’s office to find out the reason of the sudden meeting. But at the end of the meeting, the Minister and BAT Officials remained tight lipped over the meeting agendas.
