Death Marketing -2Exploiting Tax Rebate in Guise of Corporate Social Responsibilities
The Tobacco companies with their ill tactics are advertising in guise of Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and taking tax rebate. Not for public service, very tactfully they are using this rebated tax money in expanding tobacco cultivation. In the last few years they have spent crores of taka in guise of CSR in some specific districts. An investigation reveals that during financial year 2012-13 one of the multinational companies spent more than 5 crore takas in their tobacco fields of Bandarban. They are taking regular tax rebate in guise of CSR and advertising their company with social forestry, solar energy and pure water supply projects. Every year because of this ill tactics of the tobacco industries government is losing huge amount of revenue. |
